It's Not Just Paper

only Italians can take paper and stationery (fashion, ice cream, cars, bikes, how to ride a bike i.e. Valentino Rossi - all included) to an art form!

i dropped by AF and FP today for some paper recee. if RJ wasn't terribly unaccessible via public transport - it would have been a destination too. anyhow i made a little discovery at AF. it's been some time since i've been there or perhaps i didn't notice but they bring in quite a number of Fabriano paper products. most on the stand are for office use i.e. DL envelopes or printing paper. tucked in the lowest shelf next to the Fabriano stand however were boxes of MEDIOEVALIS!!! oh my, high on euphoria i blurted out "Oh Fabriano!" and coincidentally there were two caucasian men browsing through some stuff next to me and one turned back. i would like to think it was his name really and not me being too idiotic!

alright so Medioevalis is their range of prized paper made from the highest quality of cellulose fibre. AF brought in 2 types of sizes according to the shelf labels but i only saw one which was C6-ish in size. and best of all, they brought in the Medioevalis stationery set which costs SGD191! i almost died, no actually i almost sat on the floor smiling at the entire shelf =)

downside, the packaging was kind of scrappy and raw looking (maybe they have been sitting there for 10 yrs?) unlike the ones i've seen online all clean and properly boxed up. but who cares - its Medioevalis inside!!!

oh and another thing, the AF staff told me Mediovalis was just watercolor paper. hello!? product research training please. they need to know more to sell paper at that price. then again, those who know it, don't need any convincing.

can someone bring in Hahnemühle, Magnani, G.Lalo now?! ;)

question: would you dare to splurge on paper for your wedding invitations?! most people aren't willing to spend because it ends up in the bin so they say. but i do know a family friend of ours who still keeps my sister's engagement & wedding memorabilia - invites, favours, place cards etc in his cupboard. it's been 7 years!
