Wedding at ACM II: Reception at River Room

our client requested for something rather different from her solemnization area. one of the challenges was to tone down the glaring red walls of the River Room. the theme: 1920s fashion - parisian inspired. it's a more detailed theme compared to those we have done before so another thing to be wary of was to maintain a wedding feel without going overboard and making the area look set for a costume party. with great time constraints (1.5 months to think, source, execute, panic!), here was what we came up with!

gold pearls hung at chair-backs

two life-sized garden statues flanked the entrance of the river room with a cluster of cocktail tables draped in white around it

our centrepieces! mannequin bodies were placed on banquet tables individually dressed to style some donning necklaces while other feathers or twigs. silks and velvets were fashionably wrapped around them for more detail. we named them too; this was cindy

this lizzie

this was from our first dessert bar - she remains unnamed ;(

apart from those, candles in large glass jars and tea lights were scattered along the table with fresh white blooms such as peonies & narcissus...

nopes, we didn't name these but...

these we did...4 life sized mannequins dressed in 1920s inspired fashion were placed along the sides of the room next to topiaries. this is lulu wearing pearls and feathers

and this is gertrude; she had the fanciest dress of the night!

we also had a dessert bar, the focal point of the room decorated with greek busts and phalaenopsis

the River Room - don't think my camera was able to capture the real effect but the main lights except the central row were turned off. sources of illumination were the floodlights that ran by each side of the room as well as the candles on the tables. the final product? a super cosy ambience ;)

okay here's an overview snapshot of our dessert bar, will post up more pictures soon! stay tuned =)

  1. My heart was beating really fast throughout this entry. Have a fear of mannequins.... and large heads
