Sarah & Mohib's Wedding

After designing and setting up events over the years, we thought this is one event we would like to sit back and enjoy. Furthermore, this would be the last wedding within the family as Sarah is the youngest of us three. So we picked a hotel, selected a menu, checked out the favors and we were going to leave it to the professionals so we could simply turn up for the event and soak up the moment without lifting a finger. Or so we thought.........

First, it was the dais

Sarah & Mohib decided it should be a display that features their favorite chocolates from childhood till now. Some of us may recognize the familiar names which we pooled locally and from other parts of the world. Enjoy!

Wedding at Hort Park

our first event at Hort Park - it was stressful! okay besides the fact that we had the Queenstown wedding on the same weekend, logistical arrangements were really tight for this one. set up could only begin the morning of the event day and we had more or less 3hrs to get everything up. and did i mention 3 people from our crew got struck by food poisoning? and i nursing a flu at the same time?

i didn't manage to snap many pictures as a result. in any case, liaising with venue personnel and caterers, at least i know what to expect at our next event here!

a decorated white parasol greeted guests at the reception area - pity i missed out our massive (and i really do mean BIG) hydrangea arrangement we placed here. we had fantastic stocks of hydrangeas that weekend and i believe the arrangement was 5 times the size of my head!

Wedding at Queenstown

the last time we did a similar wedding was quite some time back like HERE! so it was nice to bring out past designs we worked with and build them all up again at a different venue. i really can't wait for us to finish off our last event of the year and then rest for at least a second! then again, we'd probably find ourselves 'working' to get the shop ready! enjoy the pics!

Wedding at Bedok Reservoir

two weekends ago, we set up a wedding reception at bedok reservoir. our client was fond of a tiffany inspired color palette, so we finally chose to work with those below. the dais was simple, predominantly white - we worked to contrast different textures like glittery material, feathers, wooden oriental lanterns and rattan.

the event venue was mostly filled with large lanterns in turquoise blue and white.

Wedding at The Arts House (Part Three)

i decided to compress all the other remaining parts of the event into this post! apart from the chamber and blue room, we dressed the Living Room and Gallery as well. these 2 spaces were used as guest seating areas. we also designed a favour table filled with lace-printed eggs.

Living Room: gold leave garlands similar to those placed in the chamber acted as pullbacks for drapes in the Living Room

additional chairs to make up a total of 320 seats were placed in this room. orchids took centrestage here.

so that wraps up our arts house wedding. it was exciting to dress up a couple of rooms in a variety of styles using a common color palette. congratulations to raihan and sofia once again!

Wedding at The Arts House (Part Two)

we move on to the next room! the three remaining rooms at the arts house were used to seat guests. while discussing ideas with our client, they mentioned the blue room and the gallery were to reflect the design preferences of the bride and groom respectively. so here's how we dressed the blue room. the blue setting complemented by large twig trees and a combination of various white florals were beautifully highlighted by the natural light shining through large windows around the side of the room.

Wedding at The Arts House (Part One)

it would have been way more convenient to dump all the photos into a single post but i realised each room we dressed had its own style. unlike most weddings, this event took place on the second level of the arts house. 4 rooms were used in total and we were tasked to design all of them in our client's chosen color palette comprising of white and blues. however each room must be made to have its own 'character' - naturally reflecting the style of the bride and groom themselves. thus, placing them side by side in one post would not serve to highlight the its individual uniqueness!

the chamber i.e. where our ministers used to sit and pass the law, was used as the solemnisation area. we erected a dais and added some embellishments around the area.

Wedding at Sembawang

it was more like a wedding in the middle of the forest! the location takes you away from the city's bustle and being remote as it is conjures up feelings of old kampong life. not that i had any first hand experience, but sure feels that way!

months ago our client requested not only a dessert bar but a conceptualised buffet area as they were only expecting 100 guests. being curious as we are, we agreed! why not?! we weren't cooking anyways and began sourcing for vendors to provide some mains and appetisers etc.

so here we present to you our first conceptualised buffet area comprising of mains/appetisers, desserts and drinks!

the exciting part of the project was not so much of the dessert bar but really incorporating traditional desserts into the set up!

agar-agar gudir, wajek in banana leaf cones, putri salat, pulut and mini epok-epoks served on a wooden tier. we requested for these desserts to be made in pinks for obvious reasons. haha.

gado-gado presented in clear glass serveware, our design aimed to bring out the textures presented by all the ingredients. we wanted to bring out a very raw, back to basics layout but a sophisticated finish overall for the buffet area so food were placed in home-style serveware as opposed to standard chafing dishes.

then we added a tiny table of the typical modern day desserts for the young folk!

our final 'station' - the drinks! true to kampong style, we offered guests some chilled bandung (a concoction of rose syrup and milk for those unaware). instead of the usual drink dispensers we thought serving bandung in colorful glass bottles chilled in tin buckets was more old-school...

tea and coffee were available too! hot water was dispensed from old-fashioned flasks!

it was an eye opening first experience doing a whole buffet set up. you have to give it up to caterers who do this everyday! but leaving you now with the pictures above would be telling you just half the story of this event.

half way through our client's solemnization event, rain clouds gathered and threatened to pour. we were afterall right smack in a water catchment area of singapore!!! so in 15-20 mins or so we relocated the entire buffet area indoors. it would have not been possible without the help of kind people at Kasai Sayang! so thanks guys!!!

if you're wondering whether this is a new service, well not really. only by special request and special circumstances. we strongly believe in doing new things...but at the core of this company, we want to do things well foremost! catering is a whole new realm, very much different from desserts which is so easy peasy compared to handling main courses etc.

and also if you're wondering why pink turns up often on our blog (i just realised this scrolling through recent posts!), i assure you its not a twc favourite color, we don't have favourites here and are more than eager to work with blue, yellow, red, orange, black, green or whatever new hue you have in mind. (and secretly i may just be begging clients to choose other colors, pretty please!)
